WNGAG and local residents had the opportunity to give evidence in person and say why they opposed the developers’ plans to build at Barn Hall during the public inquiry conducted by the Planning Inspectorate in June 2008 in Basildon. Unfortunately the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government, Hazel Blear, decided to ignore the Planning Inspector’s recommendation (in favour of not building) and allow building to start at Barn Hall; and, in February 2009, the High Court rejected Basildon Council’s appeal against that decision.

The developers now need to make a detailed planning application to Basildon Council. That will be the time for all residents, who feel adversely affected by their proposals, to submit their views, objections etc to Basildon Council. We will submit further guidance on how you can do this on this page when the detailed planning application is made. You can also:
